DracoEMS Quality EMS Education
For students

Master the EMT course on your own terms — read, listen, or watch, then prove it.

Read a chapter at the kitchen table, listen to the next one on the drive to clinicals, watch the lesson video before class, and practice with the same kinds of questions you'll see on the NREMT. Your dashboard keeps track of all of it and always shows you the one thing to do next.

Read, listen, or watch

Every chapter fits the time you have.

All 42 chapters are written in plain language, and every lesson comes three ways: clear text on screen, narrated audio you can play hands-free, and a lesson video that walks through the concepts. Pick up exactly where you left off on your phone, your tablet, or your laptop, or in the mobile app.

  • Narrated audio for every chapter, so a commute becomes study time.
  • A video for every lesson, for the concepts that click faster when you see them.
  • Bookmarks and your reading position follow you from device to device.

Chapter 12 · Patient Assessment
The Primary Assessment
Listening · 1.25× 78% complete

The primary assessment is your first, rapid pass at a patient — a systematic search for anything that could take a life in the next few minutes. Form a general impression, check responsiveness, then work airway, breathing, and circulation in order, fixing each threat before you move to the next.

Knowledge check

An adult is unresponsive with slow, shallow breathing. What is your immediate priority?

Open the airway and begin assisting ventilations
Get a full set of baseline vital signs first
Practice that teaches

Practice with the question styles the NREMT uses.

A short knowledge check sits inside every lesson, and each chapter ends with a timed, NREMT-style test. Every question comes with a written rationale, so a missed question becomes the moment you learn the concept for good. Thousands of questions are ready when you are.

  • Knowledge checks in the flow of reading, with feedback that explains the reasoning.
  • Timed chapter tests in single-answer, multiple-response, and ordering formats.
  • Review every question afterward and retake the test when you're ready.

Your personal advisor

Always know where you stand, and what to do next.

Your progress page is more than a report card. It shows how much of the course you've covered, how you're scoring in each NREMT area, where your strengths are, and which chapters deserve another look. As you finish more tests, it estimates how ready you are for the NREMT and tells you the single best next step.

  • A "work on next" recommendation with a realistic time estimate.
  • Your syllabus and due dates, updated the moment your instructor changes them.
  • Your hands-on skill check-offs, verified by your instructor, in one list.

Good to know

Questions students ask

The questions students ask most often before they open Chapter 1.

My program uses DracoEMS. How do I get in?

Your instructor sends you a private invitation by email. Open the link, create your account, and your seat is already paid for by your program. If you can't find the email, ask your instructor to resend it or send us a note.

I'm studying on my own. Can I still use it?

Yes. Purchase 12 months of course access for $99 and everything is included: the textbook, the workbook, the audio and video, every chapter test, your progress advisor, and DracoEMTPrep.

How long do I have access?

Twelve months from the day you activate it. Most students finish the course in four to six months and use the rest of the year to review for the NREMT exam.

Do I need a computer?

Any phone, tablet, or laptop with a web browser works, and the mobile app gives you the same course on the go. Your reading position, bookmarks, and progress stay in sync everywhere you sign in.

Will it help me pass the NREMT?

Every chapter test uses NREMT-style questions with rationales, your advisor shows your scores by NREMT area and tells you what to work on next, and DracoEMTPrep is included for a full year of exam preparation. The more you practice, the sharper your readiness estimate becomes.
